James 2

 v.1-13

1. repeated words: showing prejudice (partially)/making distinctions among believers with judgment of evil motives v.4, 1, 9

Summary: James pointed out the inconsistency of believers: showing partially to rich people and judging the poor while God choose the poor and gave them the privilege of being the heirs of the kingdom. Note: the reward is given to those who love him v.5 as in 1:12.

2. repeated words: fulfill the royal law...you are doing well v.8, if you show prejudice...convicted by the law v.9, speak and act as...judged by a law that gives freedom v.12.

Summary: The solution to the sin was provided by the law. The problem is believer do not see it as a big deal because they thought they had done well in other law and therefore they were not a law breaker.

(BKC) James was aware there would be some who would tend to dismiss their offense of prejudice as a trivial fault. They would hardly consider themselves as lawbreakers. James went on to make it clear that this was no small offense. Whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. There are no special indulgences

3. Reflection: Am I seeing things the way God sees them? Do I see the issue of being poor the way God sees? Do I love God and see the future reward as something I want to pursue the most?

Do I brush off the "little sins?" Do I accept what the Bible said and repent?

4. Questions:
1) People who are intelligent. Our church: professional with families.

2) Do not make distinction with evil motives. See them as how God see them: Do people with less intelligent loves God. If yes, accept them.

3) Bc God did not see things like that.

4) a. man sees people with money as more important and should shall more attention. b. the other way

5) according to God's way

6) Love others as yourself and then we are free from the sin of showing prejudice.
