2 Samuel 12:1-6

 Ob and In:

1. The main point of the parable of Nathan v.1-4: the rich man exploited the poor man because of his superior position. (EBC). He could have took from his own lamb for his guest, but he spare his own v.4.

Summary: God did not use a parable of adultery to condemn David, but use a parable of greed and covetous.

2. The repeated words: In the direct rebuke of Nathan, he told David what the LORD had done to him: v.7-8

I chose you to be king...

I rescued you

I gave your...house,...wives...house of Israel and Judah

v.8b And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well

Summary: David had enough from the LORD, why did he need more and took from others? If he did not have enough, he could have ask the LORD and God would have give him so much more.

3. The judgement of David v.9-10

Why have you shown contempt for the word of the LORD’s decrees by doing evil in my sight? You have struck down Uriah... and you have taken his wife...

For you have despised me by taking the wife of Uriah the Hittite as your own!’

Summary: David despised God by showing contempt to His command and doing the evil.

Reflection: Do I let my heart be glad to have everything that I wanted? I do not care about the command of God but just let myself to be satisfied? Do I not want to give, but to get? Am I never felt enough for the things God had already give me? Do I not ask God if I need anything, but to be covetous?
