Deuteronomy 8:12-18

 Ob and In:

1. Main verbs:

v.11 Be sure you do not forget the LORD your God...by not keeping His commandments...

v.12 (When you eat your fill...) v.14 Be sure you do not feel self-important and forget the LORD your God

who brought you from the land of Egypt... and

who brought you through the...wilderness...    He made water flow.....

                                                                                       fed you....with manna...

v.18 Be careful not to say, " My own ability and sill have gotten me this wealth.

You must remember the LORD your God...

3 times God reminded Israel not to forget, and to remember Him.

1. The forgetting will be reflected in the disobedient to the LORD v.11

2. The self-importance caused the forgetting.

The good wealth and abundant in life would make a person proud. They are the result of my own strength and diligent. Yes, they must have worked hard, but if it was not God who brought them out of Egypt and through that drought wilderness they did not even have a chance to live in the Promised Land.

Reflection: we forget the LORD because we only look at our presence strength/result. Pray that I will look further to find the source or starting point of  "success." Do not be deceived by my own strength/result.

3. The water from the rock and the unprecedented manna remind Israelites that they were impossible to survive in the wilderness without God's providence.  The lack of materials is a good reminder to our limit and the help of God.

Reflection: Do I forget the time when I struggle and rely on God?
