Genesis 21:1-7 Children

 2 main themes:

(1) a. The LORD did as what He had promised (said)

v.1, 2, (7)

b. Abraham had done what God had commanded him to do

v.4

(2) Abraham bore a son in his old age v.2, 5, and 7

7 She went on to say, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have given birth to a son for him in his old age!”

(BKC) Her laughter of unbelief (18:12) was now changed to rejoicing through the provision of her son

Conclusions:

(1) What God said (promised) would be fulfilled

(2) The impossible became possible because God had said so.

(3) The witnessed of those who experienced the fulfillment: Sarah said from her own experience that the work was totally done by God. The father did what God had commanded him to do when his promised son was born.

Even Sarah did not believe, but God fulfilled His Word miraculously. Even she took an important role of the child bearing God was the One who made this happen.

Reflection: I may not have much faith in our ministry. I complaint of the hardship, the laboring of the work, but pray that God's work be done according to His promise. He promised that when we carried out the great commission He will be with us. He promised that we will receive power of the Holy Spirit when we witness to the end of the earth. He promised that the labor is not in vain in the Lord.
