(1) Repeated word: prepare a large amount for the building of God's temple in ch 22
2 David ordered the resident foreigners in the land of Israel to be called together. He appointed some of them to be stonecutters to chisel stones for the building of God’s temple. 3 David supplied a large amount of iron for the nails of the doors of the gates and for braces, more bronze than could be weighed, 4 and more cedar logs than could be counted.
These preparations seemed to be done right after the incident in ch 23. That is, right after God was pleased with the burnt sacrifice in the field of Ornan and relented from His judgement.
14 Now, look, I have made every effort to supply what is needed to build the LORD’s temple. I have stored up 100,000 talents of gold, 1,000,000 talents of silver, and so much bronze and iron it cannot be weighed, as well as wood and stones. Feel free to add more! 15 You also have available many workers, including stonecutters, masons, carpenters, and an innumerable array of workers who are skilled 16 in using gold, silver, bronze, and iron.
(NET 19:6) 1 talent= 67.3 lbs

(BKC) He made all these preparations, he said, because his son Solomon was so young (cf. 29:1) he did not have the expertise necessary to provide a temple suitable for the great God of Israel.
Other than materials and skilled craftsmen, what else was needed to build the temple?
v.9b ...I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side.
10 He will build a temple to honor me; he will become my son, and I will become his father.
12 Only may the LORD give you insight and understanding when he places you in charge of Israel, so you may obey the law of the LORD your God. 13 Then you will succeed13b ...Be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic!
David was not frustrated by not being able to build the temple, but he prepared for his son to do so. He not only provided preparation for the material parts, but he also guided his son spiritually. Solomon was charged to have a father/son relationship with God, i.e. to rely on Him and His Words. Be "smart" to obey the Law of the LORD. Be strong and dont be afraid. The materials were well prepared, so, got up and began the work! v.16b.

Reflection: Do we have this fervent heart for God? When did you see something you felt was so important that you prepared so well? How much effort have we paid to prepare for Sunday school, Friday children program, VBC?
(2) Repeated word: prophesy, prophet in ch 25 (in Chinese translation: 唱歌, 原文作“說預言” with the asterie)
25:1a David and the army officers selected some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy as they played stringed instruments and cymbals...
2b ...The sons of Asaph were supervised by Asaph, who prophesied under the king’s supervision.
3b ...under supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied as he played a harp, giving thanks and praise to the LORD.
5 All these were the sons of Heman, the king’s prophet...
Note, some of them were called prophets, and some prophesied as they played musical instruments.
Prophesy=(BDB) prophesy under influence of divine spirit: a. in the ecstatic state, with song [and music]. e.g. 1 S 10:11, 19:20. (BKC) a sort of musical proclamation of divine revelation and expressions of hymnic praise and worship
(3) Repeated word: Under the supervision of their fathers...under the supervision of the king
see also v.2, 3
6 All of these were under the supervision of their fathers; they were musicians in the LORD’s temple, playing cymbals and stringed instruments as they served in God’s temple. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the supervision of the king.
Supervised=(BDB) according to the hand(s) of = at the guidance, direction of:
(NAC) It is noteworthy that the prophesying was done “under the supervision” of temple personnel. In other words, even the prophetic gift was not allowed to disrupt the ceremony and worship in the temple. Similarly, Paul abhorred chaotic worship done in the name of the Spirit (1 Cor 14).
Reflection: Prophet or divine revelation along with music was an important part of worship, but that was not done in an unsupervised or random fashion. When the Bible is finished I do not believe there is any gift of prophecy today. The principles I learned are: God's words should be a key part of music in worship. Order should be kept in worship.
