Psalm 119:121-128

 (1)  Outline (Kel)

          I.      He calls for God to deal with him, his servant, in justice and on the basis of loyal love because he is righteous (121–124).
II.      He motivates the LORD to work by explaining his loyalty as a servant (125–126).
III.      He loves the LORD’s laws and hates false ways (127–128).

(2) Repeated words:
a. God's servant v.122, 124, 125.

b. plea: Do not abandon me v.121, Guarantee the welfare of your servant v.122, Do not let the arrogant oppress me v.122, Show your servant your loyal love v.124, Teach me your statutes! v.124, Give me insight, so that I can understand your rules. v.125.

(3) Application (Kel)

The New Testament will confirm this idea by stating that the fervent prayer of the righteous is efficacious...People who pray for God to act on their behalf must demonstrate their loyalty to him by their obedience to his word and rejection of false ways. The standard for effective prayer is therefore righteousness, that is, faith, commitment and obedience (James 5:16).

(4) Reflection:
The psalmist provided the reason for God to hear his prayer, namely, he is the servant of God. How did he show that he was the servant? Look at what he asked for. He asked God to teach him His Words, and give him insight to understand them.
What is your reason for God to hear your prayer?
