Mark 4:21-25

 (1) Repeated ideas:

What to do now: Where to put the lamp so that it could bring light to us
Result: v.21, hidden things will eventually be revealed or brought to light v.22,

What to do now: hear/listen now v.23, 24,
Result: You will receive v.24,  will be added to you v.24.

(NET) Jesus is comparing revelation to light, particularly the revelation of his ministry.

(2) Difficult verse
4:24 And he said to them, “Take care about what you hear. The measure you use will be the measure you receive, and more will be added to you.

(PNTC) The degree to which one hears the parables, the extent to which one allows the kingdom to break upon oneself, will determine the measure of one’s understanding. Those who hear, those who knock until the door is opened, will find the kingdom disclosed to them. But those of hurried search, whose knock at the door of life is tentative or brief, will find a once joyous invitation to enter the kingdom to have faded into a mirage of disbelief. In particular, the saying invites application to Jesus, for the same verb (“given”; Gk. didomi) links the giving of the kingdom in v. 11 with v. 25. Those to whom the mystery of the kingdom of God is given in Jesus will receive even greater capacity to enter it.

(3) Summary:
Hidden things will be revealed and concealed things will be brought to light are the result of the lamp when it is put in the right place. If we hear and listen to Jesus' teaching we will know about God. This parable continues the parable of the 4 soils from yesterday's passage. Hear and hear "more" then we will receive the benefit. From the passage of the 4 soils, prepare the good soil in our heart when we hear and we can bear fruit.

(4) Reflection:
Be careful when we hear God's words. Listen well. We will understand things that are seemingly hard to understand. Open wide our hearts and eyes and we will receive more from God.
