Psalm 117

 (1) Overview: (Kel) Everyone everywhere must praise the LORD for his faithful covenant love [to Israel]. Here is another confirmation that from the very beginning God’s plan included Gentiles (see Gen. 12:3). The apostle Paul quoted this psalm to reiterate the point in Romans 15:11: in Christ the love of God is now fully revealed to both Jews and Gentiles.

Verse 2 provides the reason for the praise: the faithful, covenant love of the LORD. It divides the cause into two parts, the first focusing on the covenant love and the second on his faithfulness.

(2) Difficult word: For his loyal love towers over us v.2a
tower=(BDB) prevail over
How can loyal love prevailing over a person? If we put together v.2a with v.2b, "and the LORD’s faithfulness endures" we see that God's love will not change and He will keep it forever to His covenant people even though there may be easy for Him to do so. It is a battle to love someone like us, but He always choose us.
For example, Jesus died on the Cross to redeem us and demonstrated His love to us.

(3) Reflection: What will be your reason to tell others to praise God? Did He show you His loyal love which is not easy to do? How is God faithful to you?
