Overview: The psalmist called the attention of his fellow servants of the LORD to praise our Master v.1 for who He is and what He has done to other people. From what He did to others we see how great He is and cannot stop to praise Him.
Repeated words and reflection:
(1) He is the highest
He should be praised now and forevermore v.2.
His name is deserving of praise from east to west v.3.
He is exalted over all the nations v.4
His splendor reaches beyond the sky v.4
He sits on high throne v.5
(2) He bends down to look for the lowest people
He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile v.7 (BKC) The poor hover near the refuse heap outside the city for warmth from the perpetual burning and for food from the garbage.
Reflection: (a) If our Master has His attention to the lowest people we, what about us? What caught your attention today? Are we in a position that is too high that we dont see the needy people any more? (b) How can anyone raise the poor to the position of a prince v.8? Unless this person can control the circumstances that the poor are facing he could not do that. God is the One who can control the "fate" of the poor. Why do we not trust in Him?
He makes the barren woman have children. (BKC) In Israel’s history several barren women were given children (e.g., Sarah, Rachel, Hannah). To the Israelites, this was a mark of God’s gracious blessing.
Again, how can anyone do that? Answer: Unless that person can give life. Not only God gave life to Isaac, Israel, and Samuel, but to the "servants" in v.1, Go gave life to very important people in the history of their nation. They praised God for giving them their nation. How about us? Do we see God give us important people in our lives? Those who constitute the important milestones in our lives?
