Psalm 109:21-31

 Overview (BKC+Kel):

109:21–25. David turned to his sovereign LORD for help and deliverance because he was in great need. He was apparently weak (poor and needy; ...and perishing (he was fading away and thin from fasting) under the oppression of those wicked men. Besides being in danger, they scornfully mocked him.
(26–27) Their desire is that God’s response will reveal the truth
(28–31) They make their petition in the hope that they will rejoice in their salvation...The psalmist is filled with confidence that the LORD will reverse the evil that they do...Then, and finally then, the psalmist will publicly acknowledge the LORD and praise him in the midst of many people. And the substance of the praise is that the LORD stands at the right hand of the needy to save him from those who are condemning his life.

Note and reflection
(1) When the psalmist asked God to save him he gave the reasons in v.22-25 in detail. Why? On one hand, he was at the hand of his rope ("fading away; "have turned into skin and bones") and on the other hand he trusted the LORD would remember His covenant ("for your reputation;" "your loyal love") v.21,26.
In order to list these things the psalmist probably spent time to pray. He poured his heart out in his prayer and told God everything that he could think of about his suffering. Do you?
(2) The psalmist not only asked for help, but he gave a picture of what would happen after his prayer ("They curse, but you will bless. When they attack, they will be humiliated, but your servant will rejoice..." v.28-29 "I will thank the LORD profusely..." v.30).
Do you anticipate God will answer your prayer? Do you get ready when God answers?
