Psalm 107:33-43

Overview: (NET) The psalmist contrasts God’s judgment on his enemies with his blessing of his people [alternatively]...The structure of vv. 33–42 is paneled (A-B-A-B).

Structure:  (Kel)
III.      Second cause for praise: The psalmist demonstrates the LORD’s providential government of the world (33–43).
      A.      The LORD can turn the fruitful land into a smitten land and the wilderness into a prosperous land (33–39).

      B.      The LORD can reverse the fortunes of people (40–42).

      C.      Conclusion: The wise will consider these things (43).

First God turned fertile land into a barren place because of the sins of its inhabitants v.33-34. In contrast, for His people, a desert would turn into a pool of water v.35-38! As a result, a city was built and food was plentiful.
107:38 He blessed them so that they became very numerous.
He would not allow their cattle to decrease in number.
While Israelites enjoyed the plentiful of their cattles, their enemies themselves decreased in number and suffered v.39. Even the prince of the enemies would not be spared v.40 but the lowly people among Israel were protected and cared for v.41.

Question and reflection:
v.43 Why the wise need to take note of these things? Isn't it obvious that being on the LORD's side will enjoy the blessings??
I think the wise need to take note, consider so that they will put into action. They changed the direction of their life accordingly. They desire the loyal love of God and therefore they would cry out to God for help and stay away from sin.
Psalm 107 is not only a record of the Israelites history the psalmist wanted us to have a response.
107:43 Whoever is wise, let him take note of these things!
Let them consider the LORD’s acts of loyal love!
Have you ever reviewed the history (a biography, the history of Israel, your own history) and learned? I watched a Youtube video lately about Richard and Sabina Wumberland. It is very encouraging to hear from them. I pray that I know how to put what I learned from them into action.
