Main point: At first the Pharisees argued whether Jesus was from God or was He a sinner. The sect who argued that Jesus was a sinner probably win because they brought the parents of the blind man to them. They tried to discredit the miracle and tried to prove that the blind man was not actually blind (or at least not born-blind). Why? Because they did not believe v.18. Their unbelief was not based on fact v.18. They collected zero evidence. Why did they still insist? V.16 “This man is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath.” (NET) The Jewish religious leaders considered the work involved in making the mud to be a violation of the Sabbath. Note: Jesus did not violate the law of Sabbath according to the Scriptures, but the Jewish leaders own code for Sabbath.
Reflection:第十八節猶太人不信瞎子從前是瞎眼, 後來能看見的. 這些猶太他們毫無證據地懷疑他說謊, 覺得他從前不是瞎眼的, 甚至他們叫了瞎子的父母來. 當證實他是生來就是瞎眼的, 也沒有改變他們對耶穌的看法, 仍堅持不要相信耶穌, 就算他們毫無證證據. 為什麼呢? 因為他們堅守自己對安息日的看法, 認為耶穌是多犯了安息日, 所以沒有可能是從神來. 這個成為他們最大的盲點. 因為對安息日的看法只是他們自己發明出來的, 並不是聖經的道理. 我們有什麼這樣的看法? 什麼是我們自己發明出來的盲點? 有什麼讓我們看不到真理,甚至是否定真理?是否我們認定某一些參考書上面所寫的事情, 認為是絕對真理, 我們不去深究聖經原意,因而忽略了聖經的真理?又或者是其他生活上面的盲點, e.g. 我們認為自己一定不可能做某一個事情, 就算聖經明明有教導我們去做
