Main point: v.25-26 (PNTC) The contrast between the revelation he mediates from the Father and the stance of his hearers is so great that what he is saying is about them, but inevitably in judgment of them...His opponents have asked him who he is; Jesus replies that he is just what he said he was in the beginning (v. 25) Moreover he has much more to say to them, even if his word will be a word of judgment. But this does not mean he is now speaking on his own, for all that Jesus tells to the world he has heard from the one who sent him (cf. 3:34; 5:19–30; 8:15–16), and that one is true.
