John 10:19-29

Main point: The discussion of sheep and shepherd put the burden on the listener not the speaker. Jesus had already spoken enough and did enough miracles to show that Who He is v.19-25, if anyone kept unbelieve it was their problem, not His. Note, the use of the terms of “perish,” v.28 paralleled the terms, “detroy” (done by the thief v.10) and “snatch away” v.28-29 paralleled the “attack” (by the wolf v.12). Jesus as the shepherd protects His sheep from the  thief and the wolf. The Father, who is one with Jesus v.30,  did the same thing,  because He had given the sheep to the Son v.29, 6:39. Believers are double-protected. On the other hand, the audience were those unbelieving Jewish leaders. They were warned by Jesus that they would be perished and snatched away. They did not share the security of the sheep.
