psalm 96

 (1) Overview

(Kel Ps) The prophet calls upon all the people of the earth and all the elements of nature to praise the LORD who is infinitely greater than all the gods of the nations because he created all things, rules over all things, and is coming to judge the world in righteousness.

(2) Outline
(EBC)

          A.      Proclamation of Universal Praise (vv. 1–3)
            B.      The Majesty of the Lord (vv. 4–6)
A′.      Proclamation of Universal Praise (vv. 7–9)
B′.      The Rule of the Lord (vv. 10–13)

(3) Key verses
96:1 Sing to the LORD a new song!
Sing to the LORD, all the earth!
96:2 Sing to the LORD! Praise his name!
Announce every day how he delivers!

(NET) A new song is appropriate because the LORD is constantly intervening in the world as its just king.

Reflection: In order to sing a new song to the LORD, the author reflected everyday on how the LORD intervenes in the world and delivers us. He has never stopped His work, so shall we. How does God work in our lives? What danger does God save you from? Instead of worrying about the future danger, let us thank God for what danger He has saved us from.
