(1) Suffering
3:10 You, however, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance, 3:11 as well as the persecutions and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra. I endured these persecutions and the Lord delivered me from them all. 3:12 Now in fact all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
On one hand, Paul must be very confident in his faith that he would endure sufferings and persecutions for his faith, as well as invite Timothy to follow his path. On the other hand, Timothy and all those who followed this passage need to have faith in order to follow Paul's foot step. We saw his sufferings, but we are still willing to endure the same sufferings. Nothing else can explain that except we all were convinced about our faith in Christ.

(2) Scripture
3:14 You, however, must continue in the things you have learned and are confident about. You know who taught you 3:15 and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 3:16 Every scripture is inspired by God...
The reason for our confidence rests in the Scripture. Why? Because every scripture is inspired by God, the One who loves us and saves us.

(3) 3:16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
teaching-the Bible teaches us what is right
reproof-the Bible teaches us what is wrong
correction-the Bible leads us back from the wrong path back to the right path
training in righteousness-the Bible keeps us in the right path
However, if we read from v.15-17, we also see the context of this 4 function.
3:15 and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 3:16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 3:17 that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work.
The Bible gives us wisdom for salvation. "Salvation" applies to both when we were saved from sin (the Bible teaches the unsaved the knowledge of the Gospel), and also for believers to be saved from sin everyday. There are many pitfalls that we may come upon everyone. The Scriptures keep us on the right path and save us from the pitfall.
