Proverbs 21

 v.1-15

I think v.1 is one of the top proverbs that I can memorized

v1     The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD like channels of water;

 he turns it wherever he wants.

 "Channels"  is an interesting term, NET, "The farmer channels irrigation ditches where he wants them, where they will do the most good; so does the LORD with the king. No king is supreme; the LORD rules." It encourages us that no one is above God that God cannot have control over them. Even the king is under Him. In other words, not just the believers are under His control, but also the unbelievers. Sometimes, people ask me can we pray for a unbeliever in a certain matter. . My answer, based on this verse, is positive.  We can pray for anyone. God is sovereign over everyone. Let's us remember our president, our governor and our boss.
If that is what you believe than we can apply what we learn yesterday (20:22) and  leave the revenge to God. You will see the world differently.

v.16-31

v. 20     There is desirable treasure and olive oil in the dwelling of the wise,     but a foolish person devours all he has
From the 2nd phrase, the fool will not save up and just eat all he has we can see that the wise will save up the desirable treasure. Planning and saving up is the quality of the wise person.

v.22      The wise person can scale the city of the mighty
    and bring down the stronghold in which they trust.
From human understanding we assume the strong warrior will go up to the city and bring down the stronghold, but the Scriptures tell us something different. It is the wise who can do that. NET notes, "In a war the victory is credited not so much to the infantry as to the tactician who plans the attack. Brilliant strategy wins wars, even over apparently insuperable odds." The NET notes assumes that the wise do better planning and strategy. This matches v.20 which tells us that the wise will save up.

2020 is approaching. What is your plan? You may have plans in your family, in your job, or with your money, but have you ever plan for your spiritual grow? What kind of sacrifice are you willing to give to the LORD?
