Proverbs 15

 v.1-15

Again, a pair of proverbs caught my attention today,

"    15:8 The LORD abhors the sacrifices of the wicked,
but the prayer of the upright pleases him.
15:9 The LORD abhors the way of the wicked,
but he loves those who pursue righteousness. "

Compare these 2 verses with v.3
"    The eyes of the LORD are in every place,
keeping watch on those who are evil and those who are good."

Our religious activities cannot be stand alone. God always look at who we are, whether we are wicked or upright to evaluate our religious activities. What you offer, how you pray and what you serve are not as important as who you are. Is your heart pursuing righteousness? Do you do good or evil? His eyes keep watching over us. A book called, "prayer: more than words, " be LeRoy Eims talks about the quality of the people who pray.
God does not like hypocrite, and inconsistency. He will not be fooled if we put up with more scarifies to Him. Therefore, before we go to church on Sunday, let us examine ourselves. Does what we do please God?

v.16-33
Couple verses today about family:
Wealth is not as important as fear of the LORD and love
15:16 Better is little with the fear of the LORD
than great wealth and turmoil with it.
15:17 Better a meal of vegetables where there is love
than a fattened ox where there is hatred
Wise child brings joy to the family
A wise child brings joy to his father,
but a foolish person despises his mother.
A greedy person do not really bring gain but trouble back home
The one who is greedy for gain troubles his household,
but whoever hates bribes will live.

The LORD is mentioned here Who takes action. He is involved in our lives. Do not think that He has to wait to the End Time to judge the world. God can choose to take action now. He tears down, and He abhors the plans of the wicked.
15:25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud,
but he maintains the boundaries of the widow.
15:26 The LORD abhors the plans of the wicked,
    but pleasant words are pure.

This verse can be the conclusion and we can memorize this:
The fear of the LORD provides wise instruction,
    and before honor comes humility
           敬畏耶和華是智慧的訓誨;
      尊榮以前,必有謙卑。
The fear is parallel to the humility. NET notes, "Humble submission in faith to the LORD brings wisdom and honor." Humble is the necessary means to be wise and to have honor.
