Exodus 12:29-51

 (1) Repeated phrases:

"At midnight," v.29, "in the night" v.30,31, "Get up, get out..." v.31, "Urging the people.. send them out of the land quickly, for they were saying, 'We are all dead!'" v.33, and "they were thrust out of Egypt and were not able to delay..." v.39.

The name of LORD was also repeated in v.29, 41,42, 43,48, 50, 51.

12:51 And on this very day the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their regiments.

The bringing out was done clearly by the LORD by His power. Also, the Egyptians and the Pharaoh would not resist and had to let them go.

(2) Similarity in NT
Col 1:13 [Jesus] delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son he loves.

The deliverance from the power could only be done by another power, which is the power of Jesus.

Rom 6:17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves to sin, you obeyed from the heart that pattern of teaching you were entrusted to, 6:18 and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

We are no longer slaves to sin. Sin can not be our master any more just as the Egyptian and Pharaoh could not be the masters of Israelites any more when God delivered them.

(3) Reflection: We are certain to have victory over sin. Are you worry that your sins will not be all forgiven? On the other hand, do you live like you are not a slave to sin any more?  Israelite were released from the slavery of Egypt to serve a new Master, our LORD. Rom 6 also reminds that we are slaves to righteousness. Do you live like it?
