(1) The sovereignty of God
Joseph told his brothers
50:20 As for you, you meant to harm me, but God intended it for a good purpose, so he could preserve the lives of many people, as you can see this day.
a. He did not deny that they meant to harm him. He could have revenge them, but he did not.
b. It was because he saw God's intended purpose. By sending Joseph to Egypt the whole family's lives were preserved. Joseph skipped the part that he was enslaved by Potipar and thrown in the prison. He was forgotten by the cup bearer until Pharaoh had the dream. Joseph overlooked those difficulties, but only looked at the end result.

Reflection: Can we overlook the harm people did to us because we saw the purpose of God? Is God's purpose more important than your personal revenge? Can you forgive brothers and sisters in Christ because we need to keep the unity in the church?
c. Even in the situation of unsaved people or people who meant for evil God is still in control. He uses the situation and accomplishes His plan. We dont need to be afraid because the leaders of our country are not believers and the decisions they made for us did not make any sense or even harmful to us. God is still in control. He has a purpose for what we experience now.
(2) The faith of Joseph
Joseph mentioned the deliverance of Israel from Egypt twice before he died.
v.24b But God will surely come to you and lead you up from this land to the land he swore on oath to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
v.25b He said, “God will surely come to you. Then you must carry my bones up from this place.”
It was because of his faith Joseph assured them about that. He was so sure that it would happen that he set his burial place in Canaan, not Egypt. He did not order people to carry his bones there now (like what he did to his father), but when they went out from Egypt.
Hebrews 11:22 By faith Joseph, at the end of his life, mentioned the exodus of the sons of Israel and gave instructions about his burial.
Reflection: What was your faith in action? How does your action reflect that you really believe in God and His Words? If you believe that you have eternal life how shall we live every day?
