In v.41-46, Pharaoh did couple things to put him in a high position: he placed authority over him v.41, gave him his ring , clothed him with fine linen clothes, put a gold chain around his neck v.42, gave him the second-in-command chariot and someone would cried out "kneel down" v.43, no one can take any action without Joseph's permission v.44, gave him a new Egyptian names, and finally gave him an Egyptian wife v.45.
However, while Joseph enjoying all these and the 7 abundant year he gave credit to God, not Pharaoh.
41:51 Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, saying, “Certainly God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s house.” 41:52 He named the second child Ephraim, saying, “Certainly God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
"God has made me..." in both names. God was the One Who made him enjoy all these prosperity to the point that he could forget all his troubles. The thing that troubled him most during the last 14 years was not his master's wife, nor the prison, but his father's house. He was troubled whenever he thought about them. Now, God made him to forget.
When he had the 2nd son he no longer focused on the past. God made him fruitful, but he added "in the land of my suffering." Perhaps, he did not forget totally about his suffering.
Reflection: Joseph was very clear and put God in front of him. When he was tempted by the Potiphar's wife he would not dare to sin because it would be against God. When he was prosper under Pharaoh he knew that it was God Who made him fruitful. When someone is able to do that he will not sin easily nor he would not rely on man. How about us? Do we see God always in front of us?
God made Joseph forget all his troubles including his family troubles. How about you? Can you trust God Who will take care of you even with the deepest troubles?
