The author is confident of the Lord’s protection and asks the Lord to vindicate him.
v.1-3 confident of the deliverance of the Lord. "I fear no one," I am afraid of no one," v.1, "I do not fear," " I remain confident." v.3.
v.4-6 Request for and the assuring that he will dwell in the LORD. "I desire," " I want to live," v.4, " He will hide me in his home" v.5, "I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place," v.6. In the NT we understand the meaning of "dwelling" in the LORD as the heart of obedience to His command. I John 2:6人若說他住在主裏面,就該自己照主所行的去行。
As a result of the dwelling in the LORD, David felt the sense of security even in the midst of his enemies.
27:5 He will surely give me shelter in the day of danger;
he will hide me in his home;
he will place me on an inaccessible rocky summit.
27:6 Now I will triumph
over my enemies who surround me!
I will offer sacrifices in his dwelling place and shout for joy!
I will sing praises to the LORD!
The Chinese has a saying, 泰山崩于前而色不变. When David dwelled in God he had this kind of security.
v.7-9 seems to be a 180 degree change from the security and confident he has expressed in v.1-6.
v.10-14 David is confident again that God would not abandoned him.
v.14 Rely on the LORD!
Be strong and confident!
Rely on the LORD!
If this is a song then this could be the second stanza. The ups-and-down cycle appears the second time. This reminds me that our lives would not be a smooth sailing. When we have problem #1 and panic then we get that over with the deliverance from the LORD. Then we face problem #2 again and we again facing it with the LORD. That is the training of perseverance that the LORD gives to everyone of us. The pandemic also trains our perseverance. While the other states are talking about reopen MN's cases are still increasing. Our governor extends the stay at home order for longer. We need to trust the LORD again and He will deliver us.
