Overview: NET, In this hymn the psalmist praises the Lord as the sovereign creator and just ruler of the world who protects and vindicates those who fear him.
Like the other psalms, the author told us that the upright and the righteous people shall praise God v.1, because God is upright and the righteous v.4-5 and He only delievered those who followed Him v.16-18. The psalmist encouraged us to sing a new song. NET, A new song is appropriate because the Lord is constantly intervening in the lives of his people in fresh and exciting ways.
How recent is your experience with God? If people ask you to share about what has God done in life do you give example from the time you just accepted Christ? Or from 5 years ago? Or you can give an recent encounter?
Repeated words:
1. God looks for the same quality in man who is like Him. Words like "just, and rightesous" were used to described the ones who praise God and God Himself.
2. 33:13 The LORD watches from heaven;
he sees all people.
33:14 From the place where he lives he looks carefully
at all the earth’s inhabitants.
33:15 He is the one who forms every human heart,
and takes note of all their actions.
v.18 Look, the LORD takes notice of his loyal followers,
those who wait for him to demonstrate his faithfulness
God also watched His followers to see how we lives and take note of our action.
After we realize this point we need to be careful how we live. God is watch to see if we can reflect Him in our lives? How do you do during the locked down when all your family stay together? Do you reflect God-character before your family?
2. "Decrees v.4,6, 9, word v.6, He spoke v.9" were used to describe how God created the world. The author calls al the earth to fear Him and have faith in His decree v.8-9.
Again, this Psalm reminds me about how poweful God is. "By a mere word from His mouth all the stars in the sky were created.v6" Just to study the stars took humans thousands of years. The same God told us His commands/decree/words. I am amazed that He gave us His words so that we can read and know Him.
