Overview: NET, The psalmist confidently asks the Lord to protect him. Enemies threaten him and even his friends have abandoned him, but he looks to the Lord for vindication. In vv. 19–24, which were apparently written after the Lord answered the prayer of vv. 1–18, the psalmist thanks the Lord for delivering him.
Repeated concept: Shelter, refuge, stronghold, place of refuge v.1-4. Shelter, hide with you, you conceal them in a shelter v.19-20.
Explanation: David needed the shelter, which was the LORD's faithfulness v.5-7, 14, 16, 21,23, to deliver him from his enemies. As mentioned before, the name, LORD is the equivalent of the name, Yahweh, which is the name God told Moses. That is the name to remind them about the covenant the Israelite had with God. The LORD who keeps His promise is their source of protection.
Reflection: The concept of refuge and stronghold really intrigued me. When we are a baby we like to wrap in a blanket. Kids love to build a fort to hide inside. What brings me the feeling the security now? Is it money/food/house? We all realize now that those are not very good protection in the face of the pandemic. It has to be something very trustworthy and will not fail. Only if this thing that will last eternally can be a real source of protection. Of course, the answer is the faithfulness of our God.
