Overview: NET, The psalmist praises the Lord for the way he protects and blesses the Davidic king.
Sometimes the poetic parallel is not seen in just 1 verse (like the Chinese poet), but in the whole Psalm:
A. The king rejoices in Yahweh's (The covenant God) strength v.1
B. Yahweh grants Him his desire and request v.2
C. Yahweh also grants him long life and an enduring dynasty (through his offspring) v.4
D. Yahweh's deliverance brings him honor, majestic splendor and joy v.5-6
The parallel ideas are repeated in the second half of the chapter
D1 The king now has experienced the requested: He prevails over his enemies because of God's deliverance v.8-9
C1 The enemies' offspring and descendants are destroyed v.10
B1 The enemies's intention and scheme do not succeed v.11
A1 The LORD is called to rise up in strength
The key of this kind of pattern usually is in the middle of the chapter. In v.6b-7
you give him great joy by allowing him into your presence.
21:7 For the king trusts in the LORD,
and because of the sovereign LORD’s faithfulness he is not upended
The LORD=Yahweh is their God who is in a covenant with them. He is faithful in keeping His promises. All the king needs to do is to trust in Him and come into His presence. We know that God can and He is willing to help, just like the second half of the Psalm said. Do we come before Him and tap into His power?
What does it mean to trust Him and come into His presence? I think those who come into His presence they are very stable person. They will not waver and will not depend on anything other than God. We do not claim any credit for ourselves. It is all because of God that we will be delivered from the enemies.
