Matthew 6:1-24

I believe there is a transition from ch 5 to ch 6. The extra miles, the turning of chin, and other seemingly impossible commandments in ch 5 are possible only with the help of God.
From 6:1, the children do good work because of their relationship with the Father. Note in 6:1, the topic is "not to display of your righteousness."

From v.1-20 the repeated theme is hypocrites (hypocrite in do charitable giving and hypocrite in prayer). Do you want to get reward from Father in heaven or from man? Why do we always want to impress people more than God?
In v.19-24 the choice is between treasures on earth (money) or treasures in heaven (God). The end of v.24, "You cannot serve God and money." We want to impress people is it because of our value? We value the material things more?

About the Lord's prayer in v.9-13, NET, "What follows, although traditionally known as the Lord’s prayer, is really the disciples’ prayer. It represents how they are to approach God, by acknowledging his uniqueness and their need for his provision and protection." See some of the topics in this prayer, kingdom, bread, forgiveness, temptation, deliverance. Israel in the wilderness went through these things and they failed. Now, Jesus instructed the disciples to pray based on the hope of the Kingdom that God has promised them.
NET "Your kingdom come represents the hope for the full manifestation of God’s promised rule" When the Kingdom comes people will honor God's name and God's will will be done on earth and He will gave them the bread and forgive their sins, and etc. All the failure in the past have hope to be done right again
