There is a lot of joy when you exercise God’s gifts in your life because you experience God’s power when you serve Him. However, Paul redirects our attention to the purpose of God’s gifts – it is not about you (1 Cor 14:4-5, 12). If our gifts do not build up the church or give the church a bad reputation (1 Cor 14:23), we should not use it in public.
