There is an apparent contradiction between God’s election and human’s responsibility. Rom 9:18-19 如此看來，神要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要叫誰剛硬就叫誰剛硬。 (19) 這樣，你必對我說：「他為什麼還指責人呢？有誰抗拒他的旨意呢？」The way Paul answers this question is to let us see our position in front of God (Ro 9:20). When we realize God and men are not equal but He is much more superior to us, we accept this apparent contradiction by faith.
This understanding about God’s election and human’s responsibility has a crucial impact in many ways especially in evangelism. When we share the gospel, if people reject it, we won’t be disappointed and if they accept it, we won’t be boastful. Because salvation is based on God’s election but at the same time, men are called to believe the gospel.
