We have talk about the outline of Acts which consists of 6 panels. In order to understand Acts more, Gordon Fee suggests us to find out how each panel contribute to Acts. In this assignment, in your own words, try to describe each panel, both as to its content and its contribution to the forward movement. What seems to be the key to each new forward thrust?
Here is the outline of Acts:
I. The Constitutive Events of the Christian Mission 1:1-2:41
II. The Christian Mission to the Jewish World 2:42-12:24
Panel 1 : The Earliest Days of the Church at Jerusalem 2:42-6:7
Panel 2 : Critical Events in the Lives of 3 Pivotal Figures 6:8-9:31
Panel 3 : Advances of the Gospels in Palestine-Syria 9:32-12:24
III. The Christian Mission to the Gentile World 12:25-28:31
Panel 4 : The 1st Missionary Journey and the Jerusalem Council 12:25-16:5
Panel 5 : Wide Outreach Through Two Missionary Journeys 16:6-19:20
Panel 6 : To Jerusalem and Thence to Rome 19:21-28:31
Here is an example what the assignment looks for.
Panel 1 - A description of the primitive church in Jerusalem, its early preaching, its common life, its spread and its opposition. Everything is Jewish, including the sermons, the opposition, and the fact that the early believers continue associations with the temple and the synagogues. The panel concludes with a narrative indicating that a division had begun between Greek-speaking and Aramaic-speaking believers.
For next 7 days, please do panel 2 and panel 3. We will share the result in Sunday School.
