Though the King was crucified, the kingdom will still come. The resurrected king entrusts the task to us to preach the gospel until He comes again. To preach the gospel is more than bring some one to salvation. Jesus equates this with "to make disciple." Also, Jesus shows us how to do it. It is by 3 participles - "Go", "baptizing them", "teaching them to observe Jesus' commands."

We will find that before and after Jesus' resurrection, He keeps mentioning about Galilee. That is the place where He speaks Matthew 28:19-20. When does He starts mentioning it? In Matthew 26:31-32, Jesus predicts that "I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered." Then He told them to go to meet Him after His resurrection in Galilee. He is their shepherd. Although He is not with them physically He wants to keep watch of them. Therefore, the last words in Matthew 28:19-20 are "I am with you always to the very end of the age." Now looking at Matthew 28:19-20, I think it is the way to keep yourself under the shepherd guide. He is their shepherd when they are doing these things.
