Why would the disciples be angry when the woman applied the expensive ointment on Jesus? They said, “What a waste!” Is it because of the same attitude, many Christians would not consider offer themselves for God’s use. To them, it is too much talent going down the drain. But to this woman, Jesus deserved her offering and she also knew that it was the once in a life time opportunity to serve Jesus in that way.

When the high priest and the elders plotted to kill Jesus they have never thought it can be done so quick (Matthew 26:5). Only because of the betrayer that this can be done. Compare with the woman who are willing to give for Jesus, Judas only wants to get something from Jesus (Matthew 26:14-16). To him, Jesus is only a piece of important information that can trade some money for. What is our motives when we come to Jesus. What can I get from Him?
On the other hand, Jesus knew all that Judas is going to do (Matthew 26:25), and He has enough time to stop all that could have happened to Him. What is going to happen is not going to be pretty and He knew it (Matthew 26:39). However, He did not stop Judas. Not only Jesus needs to suffer for our sins when He dies on the Cross, but He has to suffer from the betray of Judas, the humiliation of the arrest (Matthew 26:55), the injustice of the Sanhedrin (Matthew 26:57-68), and the denial of His disciples (Matthew 26:56, 69-75).
