Acts 21

Why does Paul insist going to Jerusalem even though so many have warned him persecutions are waiting for him? Paul mentions in Acts 19:21 that his plan is going to Jerusalem first and then to Rome. Ro 15:25-27 tell us the reason for going back to Jerusalem is to bring offering from the gentile Christians to aid the Jewish Christians in Jerusalem. Paul wants to show the love of the gentile believers so that the unity of the church can maintain. You can sense division in church between Jews and Gentiles in many churches (e.g. Ephesians, Corinthians, Roman, and Galatians).
What price are you willing to pay to maintain the unity of a church? Paul is willing to die (Acts 21:13). It is common to see Christians not getting along with others. Some may gossip and some take side. But if we understand the Church is the body of Christ like Paul, we will follow Paul’s example.
