The apostles are transformed when the Holy Spirit descends upon them. They are not afraid any more. When we rely upon God to do God’s work, God will provide strength to accomplish His task.

There are 4 things about the Holy Spirit (HS) explained in this chapter. (1) The HS fills the apostles (Acts 2:4). (2) The result is the speaking in foreign languages (Acts 2:5-22). The perplexed audience gets the answer from Peter that this is the pouring of the HS just as Joel told them. (3) The pouring of the HS is related to the resurrected Jesus (Acts 2:33). (4)Now the Jews are so sad because they are the ones who killed Jesus. However, Peter assured them that if they repented they can receive the gift of HS, too (Acts 2:38). To me, I think God is very gracious. He uses this opportunity to attract the attention of the murders and then preach to them about this salvation. No greater love that this!
