Starting from Acts 16, there are some familiar NT characters appearing. Timothy (17:1), Priscilla and Aquila (18:2) and Apollos (18:24). They are coworkers trained directly or indirectly by Paul. For any ministry to grow, training the others is the most essential step. It may slow you down in the beginning, but it will multiply the growth of the ministry in a dramatic way. In 2 Tim 2:2, Paul commands Timothy to identify faithful men and train them for this very reason. I pray that our church can do the same way.

To echo what Mike said, I saw the relationship between Paul, Aquila and Priscilla as the 1st and 2nd generation. Then the 2nd generation actively seek ministry opportunity when they invited Apollos home and "explained to him the way of God more adequately (Acts 18:26)." Apollos is thus the 3rd generation. Then when he went to Achaia and help the believers there (Acts 18:27) the 3rd generation comes to action and may generate the 4th tier.
I also admire what Paul did in the Corinthian church. He did not leave because of the abusive action of the Jews (Acts 18:6). The Lord told him to stay and he did (Acts 18:9-11). Even the leader of the city, Gallio did not do him justice (Acts 18:16) he continues to stay (Acts 18:18). What a courage! Only because the Lord said, "I have many people in this city (even before we are saved the elect are called His people) (Acts 18:10)" that is enough for Paul.
