Matt 7

Who are the false prophets in vv. 15-23? In this section, they are not the ones who preach false doctrine. But they are evildoers who bear bad fruit (17). In what sense, they are evildoer? Because they don’t do the will of God (21). This is why vv. 24-27 is so important to the whole Sermon on the Mount. If we hear but do not put into practice, we are not only foolish but we act like those false prophets. Put our learning into practice is the whole purpose of devotion. Andrew Murray once said that devotion is not for knowledge. If we are not ready to practice our devotion, devotion brings us no benefit.
Obedience is the mark of a true Christian. Three times in chapter 7, Jesus uses obedience to test if this person is a false teacher, a true believer and a mature believer. I praise God for the obedience that is given when we were born again.

From the end of chapter 6, Jesus challenges us who is our real master (v.19-34). If God is our master then there are several things revealing that.
#1 Do not worry (6:25-34).
#2 Do not judge (7:1-6). God is the one who is going to judge everyone with the same measure (7:2). Compare with Him, we are inconsistent. Trust our Master/Judge He is fair. Trusting God gives me a peace of mind when I see unrighteous things happen around me.
#3 Ask (7:7-11). We are not independent if we are the slaves. We rely on our master to supply our needs. Ask, seek, knock on the door and the Master/Father will give us what we need (Audrey).
