The last straw for the conclusion of Jesus about this generation comes from John the Baptist. If there is anyone who knows what Jesus is doing it will be him. Now, he asks Jesus "should we expect someone else?" Remember he is the first one to preach, "the kingdom is near (3:2)." Why is it not here yet? The only answer to him is Jesus is not the Messiah. Jesus probably should be disappointed. No, He said more good things complementing John v.7-18. The kingdom does not come because the people did not repent (v.20-24). He tells John about the signs He has fulfilled about the prophecies of the Messiah v.5. He is gentle to John when he is discouraged, so does He do to me when I am discouraged (Audrey).
