Jonah 3
When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened (v.10). What a turn around! This is not what Jonah wants to see. He is now willing to go to Nineveh, but he probably does not expect this! We should learn from the Nineveties how to repent, because their repentence bring the compassion of God.
1. They believe the Word of God. They believe that God will destroy them in 40 days (v.4-5).
2. They did not think that being afraid of death is not a good reason to believe.
3. Jonah only starts to walk into the city on the first day (which needs 3 days to visit the whole city), and all of them responds. Even the highest authority, the king, believes. And they responds  immediately (v.5-9).
4. They take the Word of God seriously. Not only they fast, they also not tasting anything, covering with sackcloth, call urgently to God and give up their evil way and violence (v.7-9).
How do we respond to God when we know that our country is going to be destroyed by the financial crisis? What do we learn from the Nineveties?
