Amos 8
The Lord gives the reason why they will be judged (v.3-6). "When will the New Moon be over that we may sell grain, and the Sabbath be ended that we may market wheat?" They are so eager to do business. Even on the days that they should remembered the Lord all they care about is their business. Why? Because they take advantage of the poor and (v.4, 6), and they cheat on the scale (v.5). What is in our mind when we worship God? Eating out after the service? Caring about our appearance, whether it is attaractive to others' attention?
