We normally do not expect hardship when we follow God’s command. But this is what is happening to the Israelites. Exo 17:1 “All the congregation of the people of Israel moved on from the wilderness of Sin by stages, according to the commandment of the LORD, and camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.” Because of that, they complained. When our reality does not much our expectation, do you blame God? If so, we are treating God as our servant not our God. This is how those idol worshippers treat their gods. They bring sacrifices to their gods when they give what they want. If they do match their expectation, idol worshippers pick another god.
