Chapter is about sin. 4:4-5 says, “And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard.” Heb 11:4 explains why God chose Abel not Cain, “By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain.” Our person and our service are tightly tied together. If we approach God not by faith, our service won’t be accepted. Sometimes, we think God did not treat us fairly without realizing it is actually our own problem. “If you do well, will you not be accepted?” (4:7).
Chapter 5 is about death. The most repeated phrase is “and he died.” No matter how long they live, they died.
