The whole temptation can be summarized into one question, “Can we trust God’s goodness?” This is same question we face in our temptation too. We choose to sin instead of obeying God because we think God is not good enough. Outside of God, we can find satisfaction, happiness, etc.
When God punished Adam and Eve, He had turned what used to be a blessing into a burden: Child bearing into pain (v. 16a); “two shall become one” into power struggle (v. 16b); ruling over the creation into laboring over the land (vv. 17-19).
Our gift from God can also be our curse if we do not obey God.
