Gen 22-23

God told Abraham, “I know that you fear God.” (22:12) and James said Abraham was justified (James 2:21). What characteristics does such man display? First, Abraham would obey God’s command until death. Second, obedience also means sacrifice. Isaac is more than his life to Abraham but he would not spare his son. Third, Abraham believed in God’s promise.

Heb 11:19 explains Abraham’s faith in this event saying, “He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead.” Abraham believed God will keep His promise of giving him many offspring by resurrecting Isaac.
