God is our protection even when we sin. Abraham lied once again about his relationship with his wife which put Sarah in a really danger situation. However, God intervened even though Abraham did not ask for God’s help.
When we sin, we bring troubles for ourselves. The conflict between Sarah and Hagar was so intense and Sarah was determined to get rid of Hagar. Gen 21:11 says, “The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son.” When Abraham dismissed Hagar and his son, all he can give them bread and water. Abraham was as rich as a king but he was so helpless in this family issue. But once again, God intervened and blessed Hagar and Ishmael which was something Abraham cannot do. Even in front of Abraham’s neighbor, God lifted up Abraham so that Abimelech recognized God’s presence with Abraham. God is good and He is our help in any situation.
