When we spread the gospel, very often we stop our work after that person becomes a Christian. But Paul has a higher goal. His goal is to make discipline – mature Christian that is abound in love (v. 12) and blameless in holiness (v. 13). Paul prepared them for affliction and encouraged them when they were in persecution. Paul said, “For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord.” (1Th 3:8). Let us follow Paul’s model so that our work will not be in vain.
