The new guiding principle of our sanctification is the Holy Spirit (v. 2) - we live according to the Holy Spirit (v. 5). Sanctification by the Law is based on penalty and fear. But sanctification based on the work of Christ (vv. 3-5). The Holy Spirit lives in you (v. 9) that gives us new position and new life that we are free from sin control. Now, sanctification is a matter of choice for us to choose according to the Holy Spirit (v. 12). The Holy Spirit will lead us daily (v. 14) and the glorious hope sustains us (v. 18-25). When we are weak, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us (v. 26). Our salvation is guaranteed (v.28-30) and no one can condemn us or separate us from God’s love.
My sharing: Sanctification is a long process and we may not see any difference instantly. But, if we follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance one choice at a time, you will see a change that we cannot achieve by ourselves.
