The Bible has a very high view of the government. Israel was a colony of the Roman Empire. Paul himself experienced injustice when he preached the gospel (Acts 16). Yet, Paul urges us to submit and respect authorities.
My sharing: Christians are die to the Law but we are not lawless people. Instead of only pay attention about our external behavior, Paul stresses on our conscience (v. 5), love (v.8), and hope (v. 11). If we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit through those principles, we will be able to work out God’s righteousness in our life.
