Rom 11

This chapter is about the future of Israel to prove God is still faithful to His promise. One day, the whole Israel will be saved (v. 26). Verse 11-24 is not teaching that we may lose our salvation. The subjects of the discussion are Israel and the Gentiles as a whole. The root of the live tree is the blessed position. In the past, Israel is the focus of salvation. But because of their unbelief, the focus was switched from Israel to the Gentile world. If the Gentiles is arrogant because of that, the focus will be switched back to Israel. This is the meaning of vv. 25-26, “I want you to understand this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. (26) And in this way all Israel will be saved.”

The context of Rom 11 is about the Israel and the gentile, but I can relate the principle to my daily life. (1) Do not be proud of yourselves when you see God is using you and not the others v.18. Do not look down at the unsaved society. I know many times in the Christian' conversation we talk about how bad the unsaved world is. Yes, there are many problems. However, we were among them before we are saved. I found myself doing the same thing. I do not like the enmity atmosphere among my coworkers in my work place. However, what makes me different than them? The grace of God.(2) We do not know what is God's plan on them v.23-32. God can change the unsaved people. Everyone is precious to Him. We do not know when, how, and what will happen to others. The whole nation will be saved in a instant. God is the one really in control.
