Acts 18-19

When the gospel was spread, there was a repeated motif in Acts – the opposition by the Jews. All of the persecutions that Paul faced were from the Jews, not from the Roman government. As a result, Paul announced, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” This saying is repeated also in 13:46; 18:6; 19:9; 28:28. God reoffered the kingdom to Israel but because of their rejection, the kingdom is transitioning to the church as we can see it in Acts.

My sharing: We can learn from Paul’s mission strategy. He always went back to strengthen churches that he planted (18:23). He worked with other co-workers like Priscilla and Aquila (18:18). He trained people like Timothy (19:22). He focused in preaching the gospel (18:5) and discipleship (18:11). He followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit (18:9). He always reported to his sending church (18:22).

In your ministry, are you a lone ranger? Who is your Timothy? Is your work accountable to any one?

The Holy Spirit redirects Paul to go west 16:6-10. The Jews help and keep pushing Paul goes further west. You cannot imagine that God uses our enemies to accomplish His plan (see 17:5-9, 13). I thank God for my job. My division is so famous that they advertise for that position for a long time and no one apply for my job. However, that is perfect for me. I know I need that. Men can harm me but God can uses that to train my character more like Him.
