Acts 16-17

My sharing: Even we are under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it doesn’t mean we will not run into difficulties. In the beginning of Paul’s 2nd missionary journey, he ran into many problem: He was in prison in Philippi; chased away in Thessalonica; cold reception in Athens. If I were Paul, I probably would give up because I didn’t see an open door. But because Paul pressed on, strong churches were built. As a result, we have epistles to the Philippians, Thessalonians, Corinthians, Ephesians and Colossians. What a difference it made because of Paul’s obedience.

Paul switches the direction of his journey when the Holy Spirit directs them to the Macedonia 16:6-10. What do you expect to find when you obey God's will? Great success? Not exactly. Paul comes to the first city of Macedonia and find that Philippi does not even have much religious Jews. They only have enough women to gather together to hold a prayer meeting v.11-13. Depress enough for Paul? Then he was annoyed by the demon-possessed slave girl. Finally he was put into a jail. What will you do? Paul and Silas praise God v.25. When we follow God's will we may not see success in the eyes of man, but it is the most joyful experience.
