My Sharing: Who are the false prophets in vv. 15-23? In this section, they are not the ones who preach false doctrine. But they are evildoers who bear bad fruit (17). In what sense, they are evildoer? Because they don’t do the will of God (21). This is why vv. 24-27 is so important to the whole Sermon on the Mount. If we hear but do not put into practice, we are not only foolish but we act like those false prophets. Put our learning into practice is the whole purpose of devotion. Andrew Murray once said that devotion is not for knowledge. If we are not ready to practice our devotion, devotion brings us no benefit.
